I understand that a first time bankruptcy stays on your credit for 7 years and a second time bankruptcy for 14 years. My question is, is it 14 years from the date of the first bankruptcy or the 2nd. If from the second that would be a total of 21 years??
My exhusband and I have been separated for over one year. We are still in the process of finalizing the separation agreement. My question is if he goes bankrupt am I responsible for his debts even though my name does not appear on any of them. Question 2. Can he put spousal support into bankruptcy.

I was wondering if when one files for bankruptcy for the first time, are they notified at the start how long their bankruptcy will last or could they be several months in expecting it to be over at 9 months only to find it extended for longer?
