Will I lose my stocks in Bankruptcy
May 11th, 2012 by Questions
I intend to claim bankruptcy against student loans that I can’t afford to pay. I own stock in a company but they aren’t worth anything right now. Will I be allowed to keep my stock and still claim bankruptcy?

As part of the bankruptcy your trustee will have to look to liquidating those stocks as part of the bankruptcy process. If they have no re-sale value then at the end of the bankruptcy you can arrange with your trustee for those stocks to be turned back over to you.
