bankruptcy and small claims court

I have a person “coming after” me concerning small claims court. I am now unemployed, am on welfare, soon to go on disability, and will be filing for bankruptcy. Can this person “get anything” from me? I do not have any assets per se, and any I do will go towards the bankruptcy or have had to be looked at by welfare.

This is partially going to depend on the type of action that is being taken, but likely it will be an amount that is considered to be an unsecured creditor and one that will be cleared by the bankruptcy. I would encourage you to discuss this with a local trustee, just so they can review the exact nature of this action, but likely you shouldn’t have any issues.
