Thank you for your comment. We have a lot of debt but regardless we need to either get out of lease now or later and purchase now or later. We would definitely need a cosigner and have one. We just don`t want this person in trouble. They know we have been paying for a vehicle anyway and will continue. We also don`t want to go to the trouble of purchaseing a vehicle with a cosigner when it will be taken away. Will it?

The only time a vehicle can be taken away is if you do not fulfill the commitments of the contract (i.e. miss or are late on payments). The filing of a bankruptcy does not change this, so as long as you mainain your payments on the loan / lease, there is no need to be concerned.
