Autopac Registration / Ownership
January 4th, 2009 by Questions
A few months ago I changed the registration and ownership of our family van with autopac from myself to joint ownership between my wife and I. This was on advice from a family member who had alot of trouble getting ownership of a vehicle that was in her spouses name after the spouse passed away. Anyways, our financial situation is not great right now and am wondering how our van would be looked upon by the bankruptcy courts in case we are forced to go this route? Do they even care how the van is registered with autopac? or is it just by the name on the bill of sale?

This may or may not make a difference and what it depends on is the amount of equity in the vehicle. The best thing to do is to contact a local trustee and they will be able to ask a few quick questions about the vehicle and determine very quickly if there is going to be any issues.
