I have a judgement from Alberta but am a resident of Manitoba
I Have been a resident of Manitoba for 6 years. However, I recently had a judgement filed against me by Alberta Justice regarding a traffic accident which occurred in 2000. If I declare bankruptcy, will this judgement be dismissed? Right now, I am seasonly employed. I have had several surgeries in the past few years, not related to the accident, however I do not have the money to contest this judgement and have very few assets. In fact, I had no knowledge of the court action until I received a notice from Manitoba Government cancelling my driver`s liscence until I pay. I am currently making minimum monthly payments, but, at the rate I am paying I will not ever be able to pay more than the interest on the debt. Please advise.

The judgement will likely be cleared, but depending on the nature of the accident and the registered judgment you may not be able to obtain a drivers liscence in the province of Alberta.
As for the assets that are considered exempt, this is determined by provincial legislation so you should contact a local trustee as they will be much more familiar with procedures and policies in your province than will I.
