10 year rule
December 9th, 2009 by Questions
When does the 10 years start for bankruptcies that happened in 1992, for student loans? When you signed the papers for the loan or your last day of school. Thanks

The 10 year clock starts ticking the day after your “end of study date” – this is the last day you were regsitered as a student. You should contact the National Student Loan Centre your elf to find out exactly what your end of study date is (or rather was).
By the way, as of July 7, 2008 the 10 years period for including student loans in bankruptcy was reduced to 7 years.
