Student Loans and Consumer Proposals

Are student loans eligible to be included in a consumer proposal?

One Response to “Student Loans and Consumer Proposals”

A licensed trustee said...

Certainly, but they are subject to the same 10 year rule as in bankruptcy.

If you have been out of school for 10 or more years then your student loans will be cleared up by a proposal.

If you haven’t been out of school for at least 10 years then your student loans may survive a proposal.

Contact a local trustee and they should be able to explain to how all of this works.
