Family maintenance takes all my Dad’s income

My dad is currently in a situation where no matter how much he works family maintenance takes all of his money and leaves him nothing to live on. I believe he owes something like 500,000 in child support. Is he eligible?

There are some debts that cannot be discharged by filing a bankruptcy or consumer proposal and unfortunately for your father support payments fall into that category. If the financial burden of maintaining those support payments has created other credit problems that include regular consumer debt such as credit cards or loans a trustee can help with those types of debt issues.
