I moved from B.C. to live with my parents in New Brunswick (I am now a resident of N.B.) trying to pay off my credit card debt. My plan has not worked out and I am on EI right now. I still own a townhome in B.C. with a morgtgage 170,000. The townhouse would sell for 180,000 – 190,000. ( My credit card debt is around 19,000)I want to return to B.C. Should I file for bankruptcy in B.C. when I get there? Or in N.B now?

If you are thinking about filing for bankruptcy then it makes the most sense to wait and file were you plan to live – BC. You have the right to file in NB, but if anything goes wrong during your bankruptcy and you have to appear in Court, you will need to appear where you file. If you file in NB and then move to BC you might have to return to NB for Court or other meetings…
If you can, wait and file in BC.
