Bankruptcy law doesn’t care very much about your marital status – married, common-law, living together, it doesn’t make a difference. What bankruptcy law is interested in is the number of people residing in your household. The threshold that is used to determine your payments in bankruptcy is based on how many people live together in your home.
So, if you and your betrothed are already living together as a household then your marriage won’t make any difference. If you are not living together now, but you start living together once you get married it may change the amount you are required to pay into your bankruptcy.
Give your trustee a call to discuss this with them , if you haven’t done so already
