Do I have to disclose my bankruptcy if I work as a contractor?

May 1st, 2013 by Questions

I have been unemployed and bankrupt but now I have been offered a new job but it is a contractor position, not an employee position. Do I have to disclose my bankruptcy to my future “employer”?

, A licensed trustee said:

If you have been discharged from bankruptcy then you are only obliged to disclose your bankruptcy when/if someone asks you, “have you ever been bankrupt?” – the answer will always be yes, by the way…

If you are still in your bankruptcy then you must disclose the fact that you are an undischarged bankrupt to anyone that offers to extend you credit in excess of $1,000. Discuss this question and any additional requirements you may have with your trustee.
