Thinking we may need to file bankruptcy, just trying to understand surplus payments, is your monthly expenses considered and deducted before figuring out surplus? Like mortgage payment if able to keep home.

There are certain expenses which may be deducted off of your income when calculating surplus, such as child care, support payments, etc. The Superintendent’s Guidleine upon which surplus is based takes into account basic expenses that the average Canadian may incur.
