Arrears

My name is kristen, Me and my husband own a house and have fallen into 15,000 dollar debt, my insurance was canceled on my house and due to the goverments issues with horse racing in ontario, are jobs were taken away!! my husband has gone to get work on a farm in the states and gets paid under the table, as his papers are not in order yet, i have a part time job and im am trying to take care of my kids. Are property taxes and some other bill have fallen into arrears and i am affraid the town will start to take action, my bank just said no to helping us!! What can you suggest?

At this point my suggestion is very simple, you need to speak with a trustee. From the sounds of it you may not quite be at the point where a bankruptcy is necessary, but it may be close. Regardless, speak with a trustee, you may be able to be proactive now and have more options available to you, as opposed to waiting until things get worse. I typically find the longer you wait, the more difficult things get, and the fewer options that are left at that point. So contact a trustee, there is no cost to simply meet with them, get your sitaution assessed and talk about strategies to help get the debts under control.
