credit bureau
I just filed for bankruptcy 2 months ago, but my trustee told me i didn’t need a copy of my credit bureau. I don’t know everything that is on my credit bureau, so I just gave him the ones that I knew of. Does Equifax get notified and everything is erased, or do I have to get my credit bureau and advise my trustee? I just don’t want to delay things when my 9 months is up. thanks

The various credit reporting agencies all receive a data file from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy that tells them who has filed bankruptcy (and whose bankruptcies are now complete). We tell our clients that they should check their credit reports 3 or 4 months after they receive the documents showing that their bankruptcy has been completed – just to make sure things look the way they are supposed to.
Contact your trustee if you’d like more information about credit reporting agencies.
