Common-law liabilites

My common law husband of 2 1/2 years who is a senior is considering filing for personal bankruptcy on debts incurred before we began living together. I am a widow with assets from my first marriage and recently was layed off and paid a severence . Does he have to claim any of my assets and am I liable for any of his debt?Does he have to claim me when filing?I pay all my own expenses we do not share bank accounts.

No you would not be responsible for his debts. Debts and marital status/living arrangements are separate issues.
