what happens?

can anyone tell me what happens if you fail to complete your bankruptcy,by basically walking away and forgetting about it.it has been about 4 yrs

You remain an undischarged bankrupt until you appear in Court and convince a judge that you deserve to be discharged… At some point in the future, you may need/want to apply for and use credit again. When you do, they will discover you have not been discharged and you won’t be approved.

In order to be discharged you must contact the trustee that handled your bankrupty and ask them for a list of what you need to do in order to be discharged. Do everything on the list and then book a hearing in Court to see a judge. The judge will decide whether or not you will be discharged – in most cases, the judge will give you an additional list of things to do – sort of a penalty for not completing the process properly in the first place.
