Any CMHC debt can be cleared through the filing of a bankruptcy. CMHC is considered to be an unsecured debt and they are not given any special treatment or afforded any speckial rights through the bankruptcy process. So I would suggest you have him contact a local trustee to discuss the particulars of what to expect from the bankruptcy process.
