My friends business went belly up and she is thinking about filing for personal bankruptcy. She’s been told that she will have to get a divorce as part of the bankruptcy process. Is this correct?

If your friend is in the middle of divorce proceedings it may be beneficial for her to finish those proceedings prior to filing a bankruptcy, but there is no requirement for someone to have to get a divorce because of the bankruptcy. Regardless, if you want to get a better understanding of what your friend has been advised I would recommend you contact the trustee and request clarification.
