Can you file for bankruptcy more than 2 times? If I tried to file the 3rd time, would I have to pay the government for a longer period of time?

There is no maximum to the number of times you can file for bankruptcy. However, each successive bankruptcy becomes increasingly more difficult. If you file a third time you can anticipate that the process will take roughly 24 to 36 months and then an application to court will have to be made to determine if the time needs to be extended. As a result you may want to consider the filing of a consumer proposal instead, but that is something that you should discuss with a local trustee.
