credit cards/personal bankrupcy

How can you tell if ; I have a credit card in my name and my husband has a card on same account. Now he has never signed anything with this company. So, how can I tell if his card is joint or supplementary. The debt does show on his credit report.

The only way to know for sure is to review the original documentation that was signed. Otherwise it is difficult. Some common indicators that a debt is joint are registration of the debt under both names at the credit bureau, the presence of both parties on the monthly bill, and if both parties are able to discuss the debt over the telephone with the institution. Unfortunately these are helpful indicators but not conclusive. The only way to know for sure is to review the documents you have signed.
