Do I have to pay unpaid rent?
June 6th, 2010 by Questions
I have moved out of a rental home at the end of the lease contract. Unfortunately I bounced the last rent check with the landlord, and they are demanding payment. I am considering filing bankruptcy soon. They have not been awarded a court decision yet about the unpaid rent. If I file soon will I have to pay them?

When you file for bankruptcy rental arrears are an unsecured debt and will be cleared by the bankruptcy process.
So as long as you contact a local trustee and file soon you shouldn’t have difficulties.
