Start bankruptcy in BC, move to NB?
December 25th, 2009 by Questions
I will have to file for bankruptcy early in the New year. I`m also thinking of moving back to NB, early spring or so, as it is much cheaper to live there than here. Is that something that can be done while going through a bankruptcy.. or does one have to remain in the province until is completed?

You may file in BC and then move, BUT if anything goes wrong with your bankruptcy such that you are required to appear in Court, the Court will be in BC – not in NB.
In caes such as yours we always suggest that you wait until you’ve moved and then file. That way, if anything goes wrong, you don’t have to try and find your way back to where you filed.
