Can my spouse claim bankruptcy just to avoid paying support?

My spouse recently walked out on our family and has said that he is going to claim bankruptcy and quit his job so he doesnt have to pay child support or alimony. I know he will continue to work for a family member but I believe he will be paid under the table. Can he claim bankruptcy just to avoid paying support?

The filing of a bankruptcy does not release some one from an obigation to pay child support. If there is a child support owing it is one of the debts that are not released by bankruptcy.
