new bankruptcy legislation

I filed for bankruptcy on Sept 2/09. My trustee has told me that I am subject to the new bankruptcy laws (Sept 18/09), but I am reading conflicting info about this… is my bankruptcy governed by the old or new laws? Thanks.

The answer to this question is not so simple as some of the changes are retroactive and some are not. Likely your trustee is aware of what portion of the changes are applicable given your situation, but if you question that you can feel free to contact the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy as they will be able to clarify.
