job security and bankruptcy

I work for a financial institiution and some of my debts are held by my employer. If i go bankrupt can they fire me then?

They cannot fire you solely due to the fact that you filed a bankruptcy, but as we all know if an employer wants someone gone they can begin looking for other reasons. So in my opinion it is a bit of a risk. However, the larger the institution the smaller the risk. This is because most large institutions the hiring and collections departments are so far removed from each other that one department may not be informed of what is happening in the other.
