surplus

Hello,
I am wondering if dental expenses fall under non-discretionary expenses when calculating surplus income? They are sort of a medical expense, so I wasn’t sure.

Thank you

This really depends on what type of dental expense we are talking about. If we are talking about cosmetic dentistry that is not essential then no it wouldn’t qualify. However, if we are talking essential work that is a different story.

If you are curious about some specific work you are having done you are best to contact your trustee and they will help you to determine how it should be treated.
