Hi.I was wondering if you could help me:I lost my job 2 years ago and I have about 25 000 dollars on my credit cards and I am seriously considering going bankruptcy but I live in Quebec and I about to move to Ontario.Should I start the procedure in Quebec or in Ontario after I moved ?Any help would be appreciated.THANK YOU.

A licensed trustee said...

I suspect you life will be simpler if you wait and file after you have moved. The bankruptcy process requries a number of “in person” appearances and it will be easier to attend those sessions if you find a trustee close to your new home. If you file in Quebec then you may have to return to Quebec for each of these sessions…
