Married

I filed for Bankruptcy in February 2009 I will not be released until November 2009, I was planning on getting married in the next few months how will this affect the bankruptcy or should we wait until the discharge in November? Please advise. thanks,

A licensed trustee said...

Congratulations – if you are already living together then getting married won’t impact your bankruptcy. If you aren’t currently living together then once you “move in” then you should speak to your trustee because the cost of filing for bankruptcy is based on the total income and the number of people residing together. If the total income has gone up then yiou may be required to pay more into your bankruptcy.
