I’m sure you were expecting this, but if your trustee has advised you to speak to a lawyer then trying to get advice froma free website doesn’t make much sense…

What your trustee is asking is within their rights – basically anything that yiou can do (based on the will) your trustee has a right to do. The reason your trustee sent you to a lawyer was to try and help you – a lawyer will be probably be able to negotiate a better deal for you than you can make for yourself. You are talking about your home and a lot of money – a settlement should be possible, but it will take some time and money to put together.
