will I be responsible for my mother`s debts

in 2000 I sponsored my Mother to come to Canada.
she was working and she was fine up to last year.
She is 68, lost her job, get some debts in credit cards and she has difficult time to pay for her appartment now.
If she decide to claim the bankruptcy, will it affect me as a sponsor? would I be responsible for her debts?

The only way you would be responsible for your mothers debt is if you signed on her debt. Yes you may have sponsored her, but that doesn’t mean that a bankruptcy by her will have any impact on you.
