Family Unit

I live with my sibling. We only share utility and mortgage expenses for the house (I independently pay for my own expenses out of my salary). I pay for all of my other expenses. My sibling does not incur any of my expenses, nor does my sibling benefit from my income. Under section 10 of OSB`s diretive 11R does this mean my sibling is not deemed to be a member of the family unit? My brother pays his half of the utlities and mortgage separate from me.

I am considering declaring personal bankruptcy and this concerns me. My income and expenses are separate from my sibling`s and I want to ensure that if I do decide to declare bankruptcy, it has nothing to do with my sibling.

From the sounds of it you are simply roommates, you don’t depend on each other to survive, but simply share accommodations and expenses. To me it sounds as if you won’t simply consider yourself single and your sibling wouldn’t have any role in your bankruptcy. But you should meet with a local trustee to ensure they are on the same page.
