divorce and had joint debts together

I am going through a divorce where we had some joint debts together, and I need to declare bankrupcy. What happens if she defaults too? will they come back to me or not since I have already filed bankruptcy?

Once you file for bankruptcy (assuming you complete the procedure properly and are discharged) these joint debts are no longer yours. They cannot come back to you in the future if at some point your ex decides she needs to file.

What you’re describing is unfortunately quite common – one partner files for bankruptcy and then 6 months later the other partner files because they can’t handle all the joint debts.

Once you have bee discharged you will be clear of the debt.
