Bankruptcy while out of Canada

Can I declare bankruptcy in Canada while living outside Canada. I understand I have to meet a trustee in Canada, so if I am able to return just to meet a trustee, can I declare bankruptcy?

You may file for bankruptcy in Canada while residing elsewhere, BUT yuo may have to attend at your trustee’s office 3 or 4 times over the course of the intial 9 months of a bankruptcy, not simply once. In addition, you should expect your trustee to ask for a substantial retainer to deal with this matter since you might file and then never come back…
