Supporting family during a bankruptcy
November 19th, 2008 by Questions
I support my old mother and widowed sister who live in another country by sending them $3000 a year. I now have to declare bankruptcy due to marriage breakdown resulting in financial problems. I was wondering how my support payments to my mother and sister be viewed in bankruptcy? Will I be able to continue to send that money during the bankruptcy?

As long as you can afford the cost of your bankruptcy and your living expenses there is no problem with you sending money to another country to support family.
I would recommend you sit down with a local trustee, together review your finances, make sure you explain the situation and see if there is a way that it can be worked out.
