investment account
November 24th, 2008 by Questions
Me and my wife are going to be going bankrupt very soon. I have a trading account that I have been building up a nest egg for my children, I have around $3000 currently. Am I able to keep that account open during the bankruptcy period or will I have to close it down?

Unless it is a registered account it is something that will be liquidated by the bankruptcy trustee and any monies in the account will be distributed to the creditors. If it is registered and your contributions have been made outside of 12 months ago then you would be able to retain the account.
