taking name off a property i havent lived in for years????

I am ready to file bankruptcy, have been seperated for over 4 years and have never signed off the property i owned with my ex-common law partner… Now, my name has been off the mortgage for 4 years, but i dont recall taking my name off the house or is this automatic… I just dont want to cause more problems with the ex and would prefer him not to know of my financial hardships… how do i go about doing this?

A licensed trustee said...

You’ll need to check with the Land registry Office to determine if you name is still on title. If it is removing now may produce some problems for you in that it will appear you’re removing your name to exclude it from yoru bankruptcy. I would speak to a local trustee before you just go ahead and remove your name – they should be able to tell you if it will create any problems for you.
