pre-bankruptcy – notice of assessment
September 4th, 2008 by Questions
i filed bankruptcy in feb 2007 and i didn`t pay my income tax for the year 2006 (3K). another 3K is my income tax for the year 2007. i will be release this month (sept 2008) after i completed all the payment to the trustee at the end of sept.
last week i received a notice of assessment (pre-bankruptcy) from revenue canada and it`s more than 6K, should i really need to pay this? or is it cover with my bankruptcy? please help.
thank you very much.

If this tax debt relates to the period BEFORE you filed for bankruptcy then you should contact your trustee and send them a copy of the Assessment. This debt should be dealt with by your bankruptcy.
