when you file personal bankrupsy, but the credit bureau had no idea you went bankrupt? why? does a trustee not send them paperwork to tell them? He applied to the court until all the money was paid off and then be discharged…now paid and waiting for discharge..but i even managed to get financing while still bankrupt, and the credit reporting agencies said did not know file bankrupsy, so why did I even bother too? They said normally the trustee would inform them, is this true?

Unfortunately, you have been mis-informed. Trustees do NOT communicate directly with the credit bureaus. Trustees report to the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, the Superintendent’s office reports to the bureaus.

If you want to check and see if your trustee has done what they are supposed to do simply ask your trustee to do a bankrutpcy search on your name – this is a check of the bankruptcy regsitration and will show whether or not your bankruptcy has been recorded correctly by the government. If it appears in the search then the problem is at the credit bureau’s end, not with your trustee.

Once you know where the problem lies it should be a simple matter of sendign the cirrect information to the bureaus to have things reported properly.
