Spouse may have to file bankrupcy

my spouse has been very irresponsible with money. to protect my credit and my children, i want to put our home and car in my name and remove their name so that i am resonsible for the household finances. but my spouse has so much credit card debt that they may end up filing for bankrupcy in the near future. how will that affect my house and car, name and children??

This really depends on the amount of equity in the house and the vehicles. Realistically it won’t have any direct impact on your children, but more details is required about the assets to determine what or if anything would happen.

What you need to do is to contact a local trustee, provide them with a little more information and they will be able to advise you appropriately.
