Is bankruptcy an option?

im unemployed and have a gambling addiction. Ive maxed out my credit cards, i owe 35,000.00 currently. Is bankruptcy an option for me ? Ive run out of options, im 27 yrs old and all i have is debt. i would like a fresh start.

Bankruptcy is definitely an option, and it will help to deal with the outstanding credit card debt. However, a bankruptcy will not solve your problems entirely unless you first get help with the gambling problem, so if you truly want a fresh start you will make sure that not only the debt is dealt with but that everything you can to deal with the addition is being done as well.

At this point you would need to contact a local trustee and they will be able to assist you in understanding the bankruptcy process, any additional options to bankruptcy that may be appropriate and filing all the necessary documents to get things underway.
