re; inheritance

i am recently seperated…in fiancial disaster, i wa about to claim bankruptcy and found i was left a sum of money. do i get to keep the money?…is inheritance exempt?/

A licensed trustee said...

No, inheritence is not exempt. If you’ve already received the money (or know you are going to) do you still need to file for bankruptcy? Perhaps a proposal might make more sense – you should speak to a trustee in your area about your options.
