There is nothing that would prevent you from filing for bankruptcy. Essentially what is required is that you have to owe greater than $1000, be unable to pay your debts as they generally become due and the total resale value of all your property must be insufficient to pay all your debts in full. I think you will find that these requirements are fairly simple to fulfill. At this point the best course of action is contact a licensed trustee, schedule a time to meet and together you will review the pros and cons of the available options.
