May 21st, 2008 by Questions

I have decided to file for personal bankruptcy. I have been unemployed for the past 6 months. I am currently unemployed.

What do I need to bring with me when I meet up with my trustee and begin the tast of filing for bankruptcy ?
What documents or info do I need to bring with me ?

Thank-you

At a minimum you need to be able to provide a list of the following:
1. People you owe money to and how much each is owed;
2. List of your major assets (i.e. real estate, investments, insurance, vehicle etc)
3. Breakdown of your monthy income;
4. Breakdown of your monthly expenses;

Realistically speaking that will give you a good basis of things to discuss, but it never hurts to bring any documents you have (i.e. bills from creditors, copies of life insurance policies or investment statements), as that way if you have any quesitons the trustee will have all the resources necessary to answer those questions.
