Service Canada and Student Loan
May 15th, 2008 by Questions
Hi,
The last student loan that I received was in September of 2000. I know that I must wait two years before I can file for bankruptcy. I became unemployed 2 years ago and Service Canada payed for me to go to school at a Career College where I took a 6 month course unrelated to my previous studies. Does going to school two years ago reset the 10 years to 2006?

As student loans can only be discharged if greather than 10 years has elapsed sincy you last attended school by taking this course you have inadvertantly re-set the clock. As a result the earliest you could be cleared from your student debt would be 2016.
