As long as you are a resident of Canada (or own property in Canada), owe greater than $1000, and are unable to pay your debts as they become due then you are eligible to file for bankruptcy. The presence of property, or the sale of property doesn’t in itself cause any problems when it comes to filing bankruptcy. So you can contact a local trustee at any time and begin the process.
