bankrupt

Iam a married woman and have quite a lot of debt of my own which my husband does not know about. My question is can I call bankruptcy myself without interferring with my husband and children?

If you file a bankruptcy and none of your debt is in your husbands name then it is possible for you to file without your husband.
The extent of the impact upon your family may be marginal, but it largely depends on the types of assets you involved (i.e. house, RESP’s etc). So the best thing to do is to contact a local trustee and have them review things in detail. That way they will be in a better position to outline whether or not there is anything that will impact your family directly.
