Lawyer Fees
I filled for bankruptcy after a very long a difficult divorce. Part of my bankruptcy is for a large amount of fees. My lawyer is opposing the bankruptcy. What are my rights. and is there also a client privelage. I had told my lawyer that i was facing bankruptcy and when it was all final i had no allternative.

If you’ve already filed then you should contact your trustee and go and meet with them.
For people reading the postings on this site: any creditor has the right to “oppose” a person’s discharge from bankruptcy, although it is a rather uncommon thing to have happen. The most likely creditors (people that you owe money too) to oppose are family members and lawyers. These people don’t view bankruptcy as a legal procedure – they take it personally that they may not be repaid.
When a creditor opposes a hearing will be scheduled. At that hearing the creditor has the right to ask you questions about your affairs and to ask the Court to set terms or Conditions on your discharge. The Court will then hear from you and decide what will be required in order to complete your bankrutpcy.
