Will anyone find out?

Filing for bankruptcy is embarassing but I wanted to know who will find out about me filing for bankruptcy? Will my friends and family know if we don`t tell them?

In most circumstances the only people that need to know are:
1. Your creditors (i.e. anyone you owe money to),
2. Your trustee,
3. The Superintendent of Bankruptcy, and
4. The local Courts.

So unless your friends and family fall into one of those 4 categories you shouldn’t have any issue. Now the exception is your immediate family as there will periodically be informaiton mailed from your trustee and if the repeatedly see mail coming from the trustee’s office they may become curious.
