There are a number of companies in the market place that offer various forms of debt restructuring assistance – some are repuatable and some are not.
Trustees are licenced by the federal government and are the only persons that can provide services pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (ie proposals to creditors and bankruptcies).
If you have the ability to repay your debts in full then a credit counseling agency or perhaps one of these consulting firms may make sense. If you are not able to repay your debts in full you should be speaking to a trustee before you start paying consulting fees to any other agency.
